Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry scored a shocking goal in the NHL.
Jarry shot the puck into the net when the Tampa Bay Lightning had taken out their own puck at the end of the game in search of an equalizer. The match ended 4–2 for the Penguins.
The Penguins players celebrated the game-winning goal like a world championship. They surrounded Jarry and hugged him.
The 28-year-old Canadian became the ninth goaltender in NHL history to score a goal.
Five players have scored a goal after touching the puck before the opponent’s own goal.
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby raved about Jarry’s extraordinary stunt. It was new even for the 36-year-old Konkar.
– It was cool. I’ve seen something like that, but never live and so I’ve been able to be a part of it. I’m really happy for Tristan, Crosby said with a smile.
With the loss, Lightning already had a three-game losing streak. The Penguins are closing in on that and the playoff line at the same time.
