Tappara’s star goalkeeper Christian Heljanko was close to scoring a goal on Saturday against Oulun Kärppi in the SM league.
Heljanko sent the puck from his goal towards the gaping Kärppie goal. On the way to Tapparan Petteri Puhakka however, caught the puck for himself and moved it to the goal together with Anton Levtchi.
– It’s a long way home from Oulu to speculate on this situation, Tappara updated message service on X’s account.
Puhakka was able to explain his act in an interview with MTV. He didn’t know that Kärppie’s goal was empty, but he admitted that he took away a goal from Heljango.
– We’ll see if you can sleep next night, when it was a bit annoying, Puhakka said.
Tappara beat Kärpät 4–1. The club from Tampere has now won eight matches in a row in the SM league.
