The rail logistics subsidiary DB Schenker is temporarily suspending its shipments to Russia. This applies immediately to land, air and sea freight, said a company spokesman on Wednesday evening in Essen. Competitors DHL and Kuehne + Nagel had also taken this step. The reason is the Ukraine war and Russia sanctions. DB Schenker has around 1,100 employees in Russia, and 76,000 people work for the German logistics company worldwide.
The freight forwarding service provider ceased operations in the Ukraine last Thursday. The company has 70 employees there – they were asked to stay at home. “We are monitoring the situation with great concern and our thoughts are with our Ukrainian colleagues,” said the company spokesman. (dpa)
