‘The format is quite tight’

Hugo Logtenberg leaves as presenter of Op1. He can currently be seen alongside Nadia Moussaid on Mondays, but will stop in the summer. “The main reason is the format.”

If Hugo Logtenberg leaves in the summer, he will have been with the program for two years. He first presented together with Sophie Hilbrand and since her departure to the eve with Nadia Moussaid. “I do it with great pleasure, but I will stop in the summer,” he says today in the Volkskrant

Tight format

Hugo does not yet know whether he will continue with television. “I don’t know yet what I’m going to do. I will continue to work for NRC, I will again focus on reporting and investigative journalism, and I definitely want to write another book in the future.”

Why is he leaving the NPO 1 talk show? “The main reason I stop at Op1 is the fairly strict format: every day we discuss three or four topics and I don’t always have much influence on that. But the program stands. There are 850,000 people watching every day.”

Sophie and Nadia

It does not matter that Op1 would be too superficial, according to Hugo. “Despite what some people say, we at Op1 have made good, substantive broadcasts about the pandemic and the war.”

If he had to choose, would he choose Sophie or Nadia? “I am lucky enough to be able to work with two professionals. Sophie and I did the early days of Op1 together, when it was still uncertain whether the program would work at all. And we also became friends. That’s why I choose her.”
