The Second World War has its heroes and known victims. But most of the names of fallen soldiers have long been forgotten. Thousands of airmen were killed over the Netherlands, of which hardly anything can be found except for a sporadic memorial stone or grave. Aircraft crashed into the ground without current residents knowing. Fortunately, there are the archives. NU.nl sought out four unknown pilots who lost their lives in the summer of 1943.
