The first real spring day will even become a summer day, but that was it? No more nice weather expected in the coming days | Weather news

What a beautiful spring day today. The first real spring day of 2023 too: for the first time this year the mark of 20 degrees Celsius was exceeded. With a measurement of 25.3 degrees in Uccle, it has even become the first official summer day! But anyone who is already enthusiastically dragging that dusty barbecue out of the garden house, we have to disappoint you. Tonight it’s already done with the beautiful song. And we don’t have to expect nice weather in the coming days either.

In Uccle today was officially the first spring day of the year, weatherman David Dehenauw already confirmed this afternoon. The cape of 20 degrees (spring day), even that of 25 degrees (summer day) was exceeded in Uccle. On May 4, the first real spring day is late. Last year, for example, it was already there on April 12. The last time the 20-degree mark was only crossed in May was in 2016 (on May 6).

A first summer day at the beginning of May is not really exceptional. “On average, it falls more or less at the end of May, last year it was on May 15 and in 2021 on May 9,” says Dehenauw. But, for example, in 2018 and 2019, the first summer day of the year was already recorded on April 18 and April 22, respectively. And the earliest first summer day since measurements began was in 1939, when it fell on April 11, the weatherman said.

Blessed to put your feet up in the garden or park, enjoy some pintelliers on a terrace, lick a delicious ice cream – those who could enjoy it, enjoyed it to the full today. And rightly so, because things can sometimes turn around quickly. Also now. Although the sun will sometimes and will be able to push through in the following days, we mainly get more of what we have received so often in recent times: fifty shades of gray and regular rain or showers.

First crash tonight

This evening A first disturbance related to a depression is already drawing over our country, accompanied by unstable air, the RMI reports. In addition, showers move from west to east, locally the showers can be accompanied by thunder. Later tonight it will be dry again and broad clearances will appear.

Tomorrow Friday starts pretty nicely with broad clearances. Gradually more cloud fields appear and especially in the afternoon the chance of showers increases, which can also be thundery in places. It remains reasonably warm: the maxima fluctuate between 16 degrees in the Ardennes and 20 or 21 degrees elsewhere. The wind is blowing moderately from the southwest.

Friday evening we expect more and locally sometimes intense (thunder) showers that will move through the country from the southwest. Later in the evening and night it will be dry again and broad clearances will appear again.

Mixed weekend

Saturday start the day with a veiled sun. Afterwards it will soon be heavily clouded with a chance of a few showers during the day. In the late afternoon and during the following night, the showers are more intense and may be accompanied by thunder. The mercury climbs to values between 17 degrees in the high Ardennes and by the sea and 19 to 21 degrees in Flanders. The wind is weak from south to southwest.

Sunday remains volatile, especially in the eastern half of the country. In the morning it will be cloudy at first with periods of rain or showers. Gradually the cloud cover breaks open to make way for clearances. These are probably wider across the west of the country. There will be showers again in the central part and across the east with a greater chance of thunderstorms. The maxima fluctuate between 15 degrees in the High Fens and 19 or 20 degrees in Flanders. The wind is moderate and turns to the west.

More rain next week

Monday it is already heavily clouded from the morning until cloudy. Around noon, a precipitation zone reaches our country from the coast and moves inland. By evening the precipitation zone is above the Ardennes. The maxima are between 14 and 17 degrees. The southwest wind is moderate inland and quite powerful at sea.

Tuesday it will be heavily clouded at first, with light rain in Central and High Belgium. In the afternoon, clearer skies will appear from the west and it will become drier again. Over the east it will remain more cloudy with showers that may be accompanied by a thunderclap. The maxima fluctuate between 14 and 18 degrees.

Wednesday after a drier morning with nice clearances, it will be variable to heavily cloudy with showers in the afternoon. It will be cooler with maxima of 11 to 15 degrees.

And then?

The RMI does not immediately see an improvement after that either. With a southwesterly airflow, unstable and fairly fresh air continues to be supplied to our country, the weather service says about the expectations for 14 days. Showers regularly fall at temperatures that do not climb higher than 15 degrees in Flanders.
