The first point is celebrated as a victory at Telstar: “You’ve been bullied once.”

The relief at Telstar is great after it finally got rid of the hateful zero in the seventh game. Trainer Mike Snoei sees the hard-fought point against ADO Den Haag (1-1) as a big boost. “This gives a boost,” says Snoei. “We were kind of waiting for this.”

Telstar stayed in the match despite Henk Veerman’s goal because goalkeeper Joey Houweling kept his team going. In the second half, the Velsen team had to survive chance after chance and saw Veerman hit the post. Out of nowhere, Mees Kaandorp leveled the score after Zakaria Eddahchouri cleverly put it back: 1-1.

Snoei felt relieved after Telstar won the first point of the competition after seven games. “You were bullied once,” says the coach about the matches in which there could have been more for his team. “We just had to do better ourselves,” he says after the 1-1 against ADO Den Haag. “That depends on the fitness of the players.”
