The first flight from Venezuela after the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and after almost three years of suspension of the air connection due to the pandemic landed this Monday in Bogotá.
The flight, operated by the Venezuelan airline Turpial, took off at 5:30 p.m. Venezuelan local time (9:30 p.m. GMT) from the international airport of Maiquetía, in Caracas, and landed in El Dorado de Bogotá at 18:25 (22:25 GMT)official sources reported.
The flight, on board of which were officials of the Venezuelan airline, was received by the Ministers of Transport and Commerce of Colombia, Guillermo Reyes and Germán Umaña, respectively, and by the Venezuelan ambassador in Colombia, Félix Plasencia, who received the aircraft with yellow, blue and red balloons.
Reyes, after celebrating the arrival of the flight, pointed out that on Wednesday, “for the first time in the history of Satena”Colombian state airline, a plane will leave Bogotá for Caracas with 45 Colombians and Venezuelans on board as a “demonstration of the full restart of air operations”, which for the moment will be operated by these two airlines.
“We’re classmatesthere is no doubt that what is being resumed today is truly the new growth of integration” between both nations and at a regional level, Umaña pointed out.
Air connectivity between Colombia and Venezuela was suspended in March 2020, as part of the closure of the skies due to covid-19, and its resumption had been expected since September 26, when diplomatic relations that had been suspended since February 2019 were restored. .
The air connection between the two countries will be operated by Turpial and by Satena, a Colombian state company.
