They came, saw and sawed. In Bohnsdorf, the fir tree for the Christmas market on Breitscheidplatz was felled on Monday.

Klaus Peters (71) and his partner donated the Colorado fir (planted in 1993, 22 meters high, trunk circumference 150 centimetres). “I’m glad that there was no breakdown during the felling,” says the tree sponsor from the outskirts.

The dream of a tree weighs more than two tons. Tuesday is his big day, around 10 a.m. the fir tree is set up at the Memorial Church. Until then, it rests on a low-loader with a special construction so that no branches snap off.
