Triathlon: Lindemann runs out of a gap
Laura Lindemann increases the pace again and has now been able to walk out a five meter gap on Annika Koch. “Rely on your qualities,” the coach calls after her. That could be the decision. Nina Eim is holding up well in third place and will probably win bronze. Only a few hundred meters.
11:02
Athletics: No improvements at the top
The second round in the hammer throw is over. There are no changes at the top and no improvements either. Borutta leads in front of Döpke and Imariagbee.
11:00 a.m
Triathlon: Laura Lindemann is looking for the decision
Tertsch and Knoll have already lost eleven seconds, while Eim is fighting to catch up four seconds behind. Lindemann gradually increases the pace and tries to wear Koch down. This looks very strained, but keeps up. For how much longer?
10:56
Triathlon: Lindemann attacked
Tertsch and Knoll fall victim to Lindemann’s attack and lose the start. Only Annika Koch and Nina Eim can follow. Have the three podium places already been taken? Now Eim is also losing a little ground. There are still 2.5 kilometers to go.
10:54
Triathlon: elimination race for gold
It’s on to the final leg. There are still five kilometers to run while the muscles get heavier and heavier. The leading group split after just a few meters. Seven athletes are still in the running, including Knoll and Lindemann.
10:51
Athletics: Pole vaulters in pursuit of gold and standards
In the meantime, the pole vault is also in the starting blocks: Baehre and Zernikel are the two favorites, who have already jumped the 5.80 meters and managed to qualify for the World Championships. Thorben Blech has not been able to cross either the World Cup or the European Championship qualification (5.75 meters) this season. We are curious to see whether flights of fancy are possible today.
10:48
Athletics: Borutta leads with a moderate distance
The first round in the hammer throw is over. As expected, Samantha Borutta leads with a distance of 66.07 meters. Michelle Döpke is only just behind the favorite with 65.51 meters.
10:46
Athletics: Klein and consolation in the final
Klein and Trost cross the finish line side by side in first and second place, but aren’t flexing their muscles just yet. A time of 4:25 minutes is just a fast training run for both of them. Expected in the afternoon and an exciting final duel between the two German 1500 meter runners.
10:45
Triathlon: we are approaching running
The Swiss Weber, who starts out of competition, sets the pace while the 15-kilometer mark is just being passed. Eleven athletes are still fighting for the medals, the closest pursuers are 1:30 minutes behind. It is unlikely that there will be another attack in the last five kilometers of cycling. Now it’s time to join forces for the run.
10:42
Athletics: Klein versus consolation at 1500 meters
The women’s heats start over the 1500 meters. Here there is a duel between Hannah Klein and Katharina Trost, both of whom can run times of just over four minutes. Qualifying for the final is usually not a problem for either of them.
10:40 a.m
Athletics: hammer throwers complete round one
The first run in the hammer throw is running, but the top distance is still 62.94 meters. But the best athletes are still to come. Next up is Samantha Borutta, who will try to beat the World Championship standard of 72.50 meters today. This would be best. She already has the EM standard of 71.80 meters.
10:37
Triathlon: Twelve athletes determine the pace
We take a look at the triathlon competition, where a group of about twelve athletes continues to set the pace. Almost half an hour has now passed. The athletes are stepping on the gas and are striving to make no one else join the group. Lindemann, Knoll and Tertsch are represented in the management group.
10:34
Fencing: Kunzelsau wins the epee team competition
That’s it! Julia Funke dashes forward, lands the final hit and jubilantly tears her mask off her head. FC Würth Kunzelsau was able to prevail in the line-up of Elisabeth Gette, Christine Marie Weber and Julia Funke with 45:33. Gold for the challenger against the almost permanent champion Dormagen.
10:30 a.m
Cycling Trial: Oswald with five fault points
We take a look at cycling, where the men’s competition in trials is coming up. It is Dominik Oswald’s turn and he tries to cross the obstacles. These are different cuboid-shaped boxes of amazing height that have to be crossed. The athletes move almost exclusively on the rear wheel and try to jump up. Oswald collects five penalty points and is not entirely satisfied.
10:26
Athletics: Hammer throwers reach for gold
The athletics session begins with the women’s hammer throw. The heyday of Betty Heidler is long gone and Germany is in a bit of a crisis. Most recently, Samantha Borutta was able to set a smaller exclamation mark with a distance of 72.14 meters. Eight or nine meters are missing from the world leaders, but it should easily be enough for the national title today.
10:24
Fencing: Künzelsau leads in the women’s épée final
FC Würth Künzelsau gained some breathing room in the final duel with Degen stronghold Dormagen. Christine Marie Weber was able to extend the lead to 33:26. We’re on lap seven of nine.
10:22
Triathlon: Next up is the racing bike
Almost mean! After the swim, which is now over, 69 steps have to be conquered. That really hurts my thighs. Switzerland’s Weber is in the lead, but the favorites are all close together. Now we continue with a quick change to the bike and the 20-kilometer distance.
10:19
Triathlon: The final meters of swimming
Just under 100 meters to go, then the triathletes have already completed their 750-meter swim. The field is still tight at the front, but around ten to twelve athletes have slightly separated themselves. At the top is Lisa Tertsch, who was not used in the relay but is considered a strong runner. Will be changed soon. The decision will only have to be made in the next two sections.
10:15
Fencing: Künzelsau still just ahead
FC Würth Künzelsau is still slightly ahead, but only just leads (20:19) against Bayer Dormagen. The attacks in epee fencing are usually very short and usually both lamps light up. Ultimately, the judges have to decide who landed the attack and didn’t just “poke with it”.
10:10
Starting signal in the triathlon: duel for gold?
Now things are getting serious for the 69 starters in the triathlon sprint. It starts with a 750 meter swim at the Wannsee lido. Afterwards, 20 kilometers are covered by bike before the 5-kilometer run brings the decision. Laura Lindemann, eighth at the Olympics, is the favourite, but Anabell Knoll recently proved with two top 10 places in the World Championship series that she also belongs to the extended world elite.
10:06
Fencing: women’s team final in epee fencing
Now the women’s team competition in epee fencing is coming up. Bayer Dormagen and FC Würth Künzelsau meet here. There are a total of nine rounds of three minutes each or until a lady has scored five points. First, Julika Funke and Lea Krager face each other. The former gets off to a better start and can clearly assert itself 5:1 with fast offensive attacks. Künzelsau leads.
09:58
Fencing: women from Bayern 04 Leverkusen win gold
The final in the Degen team has already been held in the cupola hall in the House of German Sports. Bayer Leverkusen and Heidenheimer SB faced each other. The final quickly developed into a clear affair for the team from Leverkusen. After the clock ran out, Lara Goldmann, Alexandra Ehler and Alexandra Ndolo were able to clearly prevail with 30:17 and secure gold for Leverkusen.
09:58
Cycling Trial: Battle for the medals will start soon
In just a few minutes, the bike specialists will be there too. The men’s cycling trial will be decided at 10 a.m. This is a class of mountain bike sport in which a course with various obstacles has to be conquered. The competition will be held at the Neptune Fountain on Alexanderplatz.
09:52
Good morning!
Hello and welcome to the third day of the Finals. A packed program awaits us this Saturday, which will make athletes’ hearts beat faster. The first big highlight is already at 10:15 am, when local matador Laura Lindemann will fight against her challenger Anabell Knoll for gold in the triathlon over the sprint distance. From 10:30 a.m. there will also be a lot going on in the Olympic Stadium. In the morning session, among other things, the hammer throw (f), the pole vault (m) with Kanda Lita Baehre and Oleg Zernikel, the triple jump (m) with Max Hess and the two 100-meter competitions with a regained strength await Gina Lückenkemper. But it will also be exciting in apparatus gymnastics, where Marcel Nguyen will attack again after tearing his cruciate ligament. In swimming, there are preliminary heats. In the final session from 5 p.m., the newly crowned World Cup medalist Anna Elendt will be fighting for gold.
