The Hockey Men’s Championship Association in Oulu, Kärpät, informs Tommi Kivistö transfer to the team.

Kivistö is a 30-year-old defender familiar with the lion shirt. He has represented Finland at three World Championships and the 2018 Olympic Games.

Kivistö was part of the team that won the World Championship silver in the spring of 2014.

The defender will join the Oulu club with a three-year contract. Fly Sports Director Harri Aho comments on the acquisition in the club’s bulletin.

– Kivistö has shown that he plays at a very high level in KHL and the national team representations are also familiar to him. It is an extremely good defensive defender who is able to play physically and in tight spaces.

“Pressed with emotion”

Kivistö played 43 games at 4 + 9 in the Jokers this season. He moved into the Swiss League in Zurich in the ranks of the ZSC Lions in the middle of the season.

In Switzerland, the defender played five games in the regular season and then 17 playoffs. In these games, he recorded a total of five entry points.

Kivistö has played the previous seven seasons in the KHL troughs, the last five of which were spent in the Jokers. Kivistö spent his first two KHL seasons in Avtomobilist.

Now there is a return to the league troughs ahead.

– There are definitely players in better skating condition than in KHL. After all, there is a little younger grandfather in the ring, so in that sense, there is probably a lot of emotional pressure to go and the game speed is hard, Kivistö estimates Liiga.

Pakki has played in the Finnish Championship League in Jokers and Ilves.
