The Film Academy is launching an investigation into the beating of Will Smith

A member of the Film Academy doesn’t think Will Smith would lose his Best Actor Oscar.

The U.S. Film Academy has announced it will launch a formal investigation Will Smith beating at the Oscars. Smith marched live on stage and struck the gala Chris Rockia in the face after this had joked on Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith alopecia, which causes baldness.

– The Academy condemns Mr Smith’s actions in yesterday’s incident. We have formally initiated a formal investigation into the case and are investigating further action and consequences in accordance with our rules, policies and California law, the Film Academy says in a statement.

Smith apologized to his nominees and the Film Academy a few minutes after the incident as he took the stage to receive the Best Actor Oscar.

“Love makes you do crazy things,” Smith said.

In the social media, Smith’s actions have been widely condemned. Some demand that the Oscar be taken away from him. Member of the Academy and Oscar-winning actor Whoopi Goldberg however, says he is not taking the award from Smith.

“We’re not going to take that Oscar from him,” Goldberg said on The View television.

– I’m sure it will have consequences, but I don’t think that’s going to be the case. Especially when Chris (Rock) said he won’t prosecute.

Following the events of the Oscar gala, Los Angeles police confirmed that Rock has no plans to prosecute Smith. A police statement also stated that if Rock still wants to take the matter further, the police will begin investigations into the incident.

– The Los Angeles Police Department’s investigation department is aware of an incident that happened between two people at an Oscar gala, the newspaper said.

– In the incident, a person hit another person, the press release specifies.
