For the first time in his career Fenoglio investigates the death of a child.
Lopez confesses to all his murdersthe meeting in prison with Nicola Grimaldiwith Fenoglio saving his life after being poisoned, the birth ofcriminal organization “Our society”. But he had nothing to do with Damiano’s death. While the Bari Carabinieri team investigates, Falcone and his escort are killed in Capaci at the hands of the mafia.
The Fenoglio method: the plot of the third episode
Vito Lopez makes an appointment in Fenoglio (Alessio Boni) in church. There he declares that he wants to hand himself over to the Carabinieri and that he wants to collaborate to frame Nicola Grimaldi and his mafia-style criminal organization known as, “Our company”. The marshal was right: the mafia has also branched out into Puglia. She was born with the Grimaldis to react to the power of the Camorra. Lopez has 42 affiliates arrested, but not the person who killed little Damiano. Nicola Grimaldi manages to escape.
Lopez had nothing to do with the child’s death. Who killed the boss’s son? «Lopez is hiding something – Fenoglio is convinced – it’s like he wants to put some justice in his life». Maybe to kill Damiano was a maniacan affiliate of the Grimaldi or someone who deals with so-called flash kidnappings.
The officer Antonio Pellecchia (Paolo Sassanelli) and to the young Montemurro (Francesco Centorame) investigate and find, in the same area of the countryside where the child’s body was found, a farmhouse belonging to a certain MAnzari, a music teacher, who hides an important clue.
The series pays homage to Giovanni Falcone
While the Marshal Fenogliothe PM Gemma D’Angelo (Giulia Vecchio) and their entire team interrogate Lopez and investigate Damiano’s case, the unforeseeable happens: on 23 May 1992 a mafia attack killed the magistrate Giovanni Falcone and his wife Francesca Morvillo and three escort officers, all from Puglia. Italy is in mourning in front of what was defined as “the Capaci massacre”.
Gemma is shocked. She had known him Giovanni Falcone, he told Fenoglio, a few years earlier at a conference. «He was a legend to me – he says – I chose to do this job thanks to people like him». The PM also continues to investigate on the death of his brother Filippo from an overdoseof which Pietro also informs.
Something doesn’t add up: an autopsy was never performed and it appears that the Prosecutor Aragona, uncle of Marco Lo Russo, a dear friend of Filippo and Gemma, wanted to close the case quickly. Why? Marco is hiding something.
Is the love story between Serena and Fenoglio at an end?
The relationship between Pietro and Serena (Giulia Bevilacqua) is not going swimmingly. The two are going through a critical moment: Fenoglio is afraid of having a child, for Serena, however, it is the greatest desire. On the same day of the Capaci massacre, the teacher sees his companion and Gemma outside the barracks in Bari.
Serena is jealous. «Is our story at the end of the line? – the companion asks Pietro – The terminus is also used to leave, not just to arrive», the Carabiniere born from the sentence replies to her Gianrico Carofiglio.
