Taking pictures with your cell phone was yesterday. At Fehling in Berlin-Kreuzberg, trainees can get an idea of ​​how versatile photography really is.

Klaus Fehling (63) founded the business in 1985 on Bergmannstrasse. There is an apprenticeship position in scene-Kiez. Seriously, can’t you take photos with your phone? Employee Katrin Reuter (50) declines. “No, things are much more exciting here. Here you learn how photography really works.”

Means: At the very beginning, the newcomer sets off with an analogue camera. Only 36 shots possible, so you have to be careful what you snap. Then it’s off to the lab for developing and enlarging.

The Fehling team of six employees shoots passport photos and portraits in the shop, as well as event photography. What do applicants need to bring with them? Klaus Fehling: “An MSA would be good, plus a lot of passion and commitment.” After the apprenticeship, you see the world of photography with different eyes. Promised!
