The FC Volendam board wants to get rid of the Supervisory Board

The board of FC Volendam believes that the club’s organization needs to be overhauled. With a Supervisory Board, a board and management, too many people are currently involved in day-to-day decision-making. The Supervisory Board must therefore disappear and the FC must change into a Private Company (with shareholders). The board announced this at an information evening in De Jozef.

Although the Supervisory Board has no duties and responsibilities, it does have powers and supervises the Board and the Management Board. In the new structure, the Supervisory Board and the Board would disappear. Instead there will be shareholders and a Supervisory Board. They will take over the duties of the Supervisory Board in the new organisation.

Frans ten Berge, commercial director of Volendam, outlined the club’s financial situation. “At the start of the season we estimated the turnover at 9.8 million euros, in January it was 10.6 million euros. The loss of the operating budget (salaries, etc.) is currently 1,259,753 euros, which is more than a ton more than budgeted. That loss is therefore twelve percent of turnover. That is the average of all premier league clubs. ” He emphasizes that the Supervisory Board approved all figures last Tuesday.

According to Supervisory Board chairman Jaap Veerman, the deficit will rise to two million if Volendam maintains itself in the premier league. Chairman Jan Smit announced that he will guarantee the 1.2 million euros.

Update stadium

During the evening there was also an update about the stadium via Jan Smit. “A decision will be made before July on the zoning plan for the stadium and the adjacent area. The city council seems to agree with the stadium and the area development. Mayor Lieke Sievers expects it to be built within ten years, I expect six years .”

Responses from this evening will be posted on our channels as soon as possible.
