The father of the UMK winner was shocked by the final result – This is how he describes his son

Singer Henri Piispanen’s father believes that Finland’s quintet will arouse opinions in Europe.

Windows95 man and Henri Piispanen won the New Music Competition on Saturday night. The duo will represent Finland at the spring Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö with a song No rules.

On Sunday, Iltalehti reached Henri Piispanen’s father, Pasi Piispanen, to comment on the mood after the victory was decided. The family was cheering on the spot in Tampere.

– Incredible feeling! An unreal feeling in a good way, Pasi states at the beginning of the interview.

The winner was decided based on international judges and public votes. The international judges left Windows95man in last place. However, telephone voters had a different opinion and donated a hefty point pot.

Positive character

Saturday night’s fast-paced stage performance featured a giant denim egg inside which WIndows95man, i.e. Teemu Keisteri, came up. Towards the end, a pair of jean shorts fell from the ceiling, which Windows95man put on his legs.

– I think it was a great show. Certainly sparks a discussion, some like it and some don’t. I thought it was wonderfully made and had great sets and lights. Many others had wonderful performances there as well, the father estimated.

At this stage, he still cannot say how the international audience will react to Finnish humor in the singing competition.

– Let’s hope for the best. It’s quite interesting how this is received in other countries.

Henri grew up in a musical family, as his parents worked in music. Pasi has worked as a music teacher for a long time.

The song is based on the nostalgia of the 90s.

– When I listened to the song for the first time, I listened to the melody and harmony with the player’s ear. For me, it was such that this was absolutely brilliant. It felt like a bang right away, dad describes the song No rules.

He brings up his son’s strengths in singing and dancing.

– Henri is experienced and confident for his age. He knows how to represent Finland with good energy and a positive character.

Finland’s fate in Eurovision will be decided on Tuesday, May 7, when the first semi-final takes place at Malmö Arena. Last year, Finland finished second in the singing competition Wrapper Cha Cha Cha – song.
