F1 reintroduced the safety car rule.
Last season ended with a security car farce. A similar show is not possible for next season. AOP
Last year, the rules of the F1 series stated that any car overtaken in a lap could be counted past the top man in the race with the safety car on the track.
The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has changed the rule so that in the future, all cars overtaken in a lap must be passed by a top car if it is safe.
In practice, therefore, it is open to interpretation anywas replaced in the rules allwith the word.
The FIA wanted to file a safety car rule because last year’s championship settled on the final meter of the final race of the season with just that interpretable rule.
When the safety car hit the track in the final stages of the Abu Dhabi GP, the race director Michael Masi ordered only the top man Lewis Hamilton and the runner-up Max Verstappen the cars in between to bypass the hose and drive the others onto the lap.
So Verstappen, riding on fresh tires, got caught in Hamilton’s trunk. And when the safety car left the track, the Dutchman easily overtook the veteran in the final round of the race and became sensationally a champion.
The solution of the machine caused a lot of shaving. Many Mersu fans found Mas misinterpreting the rules when the man did not instruct all cars to take their real place in the hose. Only cars between Hamilton and Verstappen were allowed to do so.
Masi was fired in February.
So next season, a similar show can’t be seen when, according to the rules, all the cars overtaken in the round have to push past the top man and take their own place off the set tail.
Overalls closed!
The F1 series also announced that in future interviews after the awards ceremony and race, drivers will be required to keep their overalls closed to the neck. So they will no longer be able to open their overalls and pull them to their waist.
In addition to post-competition Parc fermé A small refinement was made to the rules:
– Drivers must not be disturbed in any way Parc fermé protocols, the new rule states.
The rule was recorded when Verstappen visited the back wing of Hamilton’s car in the Parc fermé after a time trial last season.
