The explosion of the centaur and the car plunging into the river – Do you remember these wild closing episodes of Salkkareit?

Encrypted lives are known for their lively twists and turns, and especially the final episodes of the production seasons are full of pure drama.

The favorite series Salatut elämat has been a familiar sight in Finns’ living rooms for 25 years. The series is shown from fall to spring, and as usual, the final episode of spring leaves viewers gnashing their teeth with excitement.

Over the years, the closing episodes have talked about Tyyne Puustisinen’s murderer, Jukka Salini found out how his son Aleksi is the father of the man’s wife Hanna’s child. In the final episode of 2004, Seppo Taalasmaa had a heart attack when he found out that his daughter Elina was the result of Ulla’s betrayal.

One season ends with Hanna Salini’s violent crash and another with children’s gun games, when Oona and Niko get hold of Aaro Vaalante’s gun.

Markus Ekholm’s heart stops

In the final episode of the third season of the hidden lives in 2002, Markus Ekholm’s long-term use of drugs also dawns on his new wife Elina in the middle of the wedding party.

Markus falls to the ground in the middle of the wedding waltz, and in the hospital it is discovered that he had a heart attack after taking large amounts of impure amphetamine. The character was also late for his own wedding because his addiction forced him to get drugs before the wedding ceremony.

Markus had originally become a drug addict while running the Geeli nightclub. His subordinate Camilla Mustavaara had been trying to help Markus dry for a long time without success. In the autumn, in continuous episodes, Markus survives his heart attack, but soon dies on a new plane on the way to Rome with Elina.

Andei Sandberg, who played Markus Ekholm (left), left the series in 2002. However, he returned to the spin-off series Pihlajasatu in 2018. On the right, Sami Uotila, who plays Aki Nikki. Hannu Puukko

The centaur explodes

In 2009, Salla Mattila and Ismo Laitela’s wedding comes to a terrible end when the Centauri, which served as the party venue, explodes. The reason is Jenni Vainio’s careless mistake, as a result of which she has left her shoes on the gas stove in the back room.

Juulia is stuck in the back room as a result of a gas leak, until an unsuspecting waiter walks in with a candle in hand and the whole place explodes all the way to the pedestrian street.

Eero Vaalanne, Juulia Autio and the waiter holding the candle died in the explosion. In addition, the bride Salla has to lose her life, but wakes up in the morgue.

In the episode, viewers were also shocked by the fact that Eero buried the pregnant Paula alive under the plank floors of the house. Many considered this to be the “scariest episode ever” of the series.

After the episode was aired, there was an uproar, as, among others, the Commissioner for Children’s Affairs, Maria Kaisa Aula, considered the episode inappropriate for the time of the airing.

– I encourage parents to file a complaint with the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority if the prime-time episode of Hidden Lives has contained inappropriate material, he encouraged in Iltalehti in the summer of 2009.

Severi is captured

One of the most atmospheric Salkkarit twists is probably the plot patterns of Aaro Vaalante and his twin brother Eero. After Eero dies, Aaro stubbornly wants to take care of Sever, who is the child of Eero and Paula Sievinen.

Teemu Lehtilä has played both Aaro and Eero in the series. Jenni Gästgivar

Social worker Anni, who is Eero and Aaron’s mother, will be in the pictures. He eventually kidnaps Sever to take him to a cabin with Aaron. However, the car trip to the cabin takes a dramatic turn when the Sievisets chase after Anni, who has kidnapped their child.

Ann’s concentration breaks and his car slides into the frozen river. For a long time, the Sievis have believed that Severi died in an accident. In reality, Severi and Anni were with Aaron at the cottage, where Severi, who had lost his memory, thought Aaron was his father.

A helicopter crash

Spring 2020 ended with a sad episode where Onni “Tale” Taalasmaa, his wife Sanni and the couple’s child Ilja are killed when Aki and Camilla’s helicopter falls on top of their car.

Aki and Camilla originally boarded the helicopter to go on their honeymoon. Aki survives the accident faster than Camilla, because Camilla is in a coma for the next two seasons until she opens her eyes and wakes up in the closing episode of spring 2022.
