The European Union strengthens regulations for the discharge of waste into the sea by ships

The European Union is introducing new legislation to take a stricter approach to the pollution of its seas by shipping traffic. Currently, ships are not allowed to dump a wide range of polluting substances, but that list is being expanded to include sewage, waste and other surpluses. The negotiators of the Council (the Member States) and the European Parliament have reached an agreement on this.
