The EU and the UK are preparing new “gas” sanctions against Russia

The UK and EU countries are developing package of sanctions against new Russian projects in the gas sector. These restrictions will be introduced in the event of an escalation on the border with Ukraine, reports the Financial Times, citing informed sources.

As noted, the package of sanctions is being developed with the support of United States of America. The purpose of these measures is to severely limit the technological and financial injections that are associated with Russia’s initiatives in the gas industry.

As a result of the imposition of sanctions, which will have to strike at the Russian hydrocarbon industry, European companies investing in the gas sector of the Russian Federation (including Shell, Total and BP) will also suffer.

Earlier, Europe stated that in the event of an escalation of the situation around Ukraine, restrictions would be introduced against the oil pipeline. Nord Stream 2.

Moscow has more than once rejected accusations of “aggressive actions” by Ukraine and Western countries. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov explained that Russia does not threaten anyone, moving troops at its discretion within its territory.
