The ERC bases endorse the investiture pact with the PSOE with 89% support

The last formal step that remained to confirm the investiture pact between ERC and the PSOE was that the militancy of the party Oriol Junqueras decide whether to endorse the agreement or not through an internal consultation. The vote was held this Friday in telematic format and 89% of the members who voted showed themselves favorable to the pact. 9% have voted against and 2% have done it in white. Participation was 43.61%.

The party has organized fast track voting: Militants were able to vote from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Friday. In fact, when the final results were announced a few minutes after closing virtual ballot boxesbarely 24 hours had passed since Junqueras had formally announced the pact to the media.

The question that have finally subdued the militants has been the following: “Do you agree that Republican Left vote in favor of the investiture of Pedro Sanchez in exchange of the amnesty lawthe second phase of the resolution of the political conflict to address the referendum, the comprehensive transfer of Rodalieseconomic commitments and proposals to reduce the fiscal deficit?”. The answer admitted ‘yes’, ‘no’ and blank votes.

The complexity of the announcement is no coincidence. The address of Junqueras Not only does it have to ‘sell’ the benefits of the pact with the PSOE from the outside, but it must also do internal pedagogy to defend the agreement. And the statement wanted to reflect that the party has not only achieved achievements in a ‘procés’ key: the amnesty and reactivate the dialogue tablebut has also managed to close the folder of the trains and that of financing with a partial remission of the debt of the Generalitat.

A nod to militancy
