The end of Glynor Plet at Telstar is imminent now that his contract has been formally terminated

It could just be that Glynor Plet is working on his last weeks at Telstar. The club has formally terminated the contracts of Plet and Yaël Liesdek. The expiring commitments of both players will initially not be extended by the club from Velsen-Zuid.

In a press release, technical director Peter Hofstede says that the termination of the contracts does not mean that Plet and Liesdek will leave. “These cancellations are purely a formality. In the coming period we will look further into what the selection for next season should look like, we will continue to talk to the players and it will become clear who will soon be part of the group.”

Both Plet and Liesdek suffer from physical complaints. The 36-year-old striker now chooses his matches and is regularly sidelined by coach Mike Snoei’s team. Last weekend, Plet was worth gold for Telstar as a substitute. In the final minutes he shot his team to victory over TOP Oss (1-0). Liesdek made minutes in that same match for the first time after he was injured in December.

In any case, Niels van Wetten’s expiring contract will not be extended. The 24-year-old midfielder says goodbye to the Velsen team after three years. Van Wetten played only one competition match at Telstar this season.

Three lengths

The contracts of Thomas Oude Kotte, Joey Houweling and Jorginho Soares will be extended. The White Lions had previously reached an agreement with Oude Kotte. The 27-year-old defender recently signed for one year until mid-2024. The options of Houweling and Soares are now also being lifted.

All clubs in professional football must inform players before April 1 whether their expiring contract will be extended. If not, the player can leave on a free transfer or both parties can renegotiate a new contract.
