The World Cup will be played in Poland and Sweden from 12 to 29 January. The last time the Dutch men competed at the world championship was in 1961. Besides Miedema and Jaspers van Drenth Groep Hurry-Up from Zwartemeer and Falke from Sporting Pelt from Belgium, 14 other players dropped out. The Netherlands travels to the World Cup with 18 handball players.
