The Electoral Board prohibits ERC from using the “Junts per Pineda” brand

The Zone Electoral Board has prohibited ERC from using the “Junts per Pineda” brand in the municipality of Pineda de Mar (Barcelona)whose electoral list appears as first substitute Janina Juli, wife of the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès.

In the resolution, to which EFE has had access, the board estimates the request submitted last week by jxcat and gives ERC a period of 48 hours to change the name of your candidacy in the municipality.

It so happens that Juli was a militant of the Joventut Nacionalista de Catalunya (JNC), historically linked to the CDC and now to JxCat, and of the PDeCAT until 2019, and resides in Pineda de Mar together with Aragonès.

The Electoral Board argues that “there is a possibility of confuse the electorate“if ERC maintains the acronym “Junts per Pineda”, since a voter “can reasonably consider that the political formation En Marxa Junts per Pineda (Junts per Pineda) is part of said coalition”, so it would be “impossible” to know in which of the two candidacies the party is integrated.
