The entire EC tournament was built with the final match between England and Germany in mind.

The hosts of the three lions already secured their place in the final on Tuesday, and the story was already written for Germany’s semi-final victory as well.

But France certainly didn’t sell its leather cheaply in Milton Keynes.

Of course, Germany in the white shirt had won all their matches in this tournament without conceding a goal. In addition, it had always managed to score at least one goal in the EC playoffs in history.

This time the condition was fulfilled in the 40th minute, when Alexandra Popp humiliated From Ève Périsse by banging Svenja Huthin the center beautifully straight from the air to the roof of the goal.

It was both Germany’s 100th goal in European Championship history and Poppin’s fifth goal in as many matches – both are new records.

Along with Les Bleues

French captain Wendie Renard left too much space for Huth in the situation, but immediately after the setback, he gathered the blue shirts together. The skipper pumped his fist and swore that the semi-final is really not over yet.

Renard’s pep talk could easily have remained just warm words. France had had two days less rest than their opponents before the semi-final. In addition, its previous match had stretched to a marathon length of 120 minutes.

However, Les Bleues leveled even before the break when by Linda Sällström Paris-era top couple Kadidiatou Diani bombed the post and the goalkeeper with a wonderful individual performance by Merle Frohms through the back to the net.

The story continues after the picture.

Diani had to mess with the central striker in the plot just because the French superstar Marie-Antoinette Katoto was injured in the victory over Belgium in the first group stage.

Veskari Frohms became Germany’s hero at the beginning of the second period, when his reactions were enough for Renard’s header from close range. For a while, it looked like France didn’t let the fatigue get in the way, as they constantly created dangerous situations for the white shirts’ goal.

Popp decided

But Germany wouldn’t be Germany if they let a little pressure disrupt their title march. The team’s canine Popp had hit his head Griedge Mbock Bathyn to the one-woman wall, but in the 76th minute she went around the back of the Lyon striker and powerfully headed home Germany’s second lead.

With his sixth hit of the tournament, Popp went up by Beth Mead side by side in the competition for the goal queen of the tournament. The two will face each other in Sunday’s final, as France missed out on a place in the semifinals.

In the end, the energy deficit of the blue shirts became more apparent, and Germany had a reasonably easy job of securing a place in the final match at Wembley.

And for that, you don’t have to prepare the script for a long time.

After all, Germany has played eight times in the European Championship final – and won every single time.
