For Russians, the threshold for duty-free purchases of goods in foreign online stores will be raised until October 31, which means that goods worth up to €1,000 will not be taxed. Threshold lowered to €200 from 1 January 2020
In the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the threshold for duty-free purchases of goods in foreign online stores will be raised from €200 to €1,000 (from RUB 29,000 to RUB 144,000). Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced this at a meeting with deputies, reports TASS.
“At the suggestion of Russia, the threshold for duty-free purchases in foreign online stores will be raised in the EAEU from the current 200 to 1,000 euros. The requirements for the weight of the parcel will remain the same – no more than 31 kg,” the head of the Cabinet said.
Mishustin believes that this will allow citizens to continue shopping in foreign online stores, despite the restrictions imposed by “unfriendly countries.” According to him, some countries already accept payments with Mir cards. “We expect that their number will grow,” the head of government added.
According to him, this decision has already been approved by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission and will be valid until October 1, 2022, he added.
The Eurasian Economic Union includes five countries – Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.
