Children, children, how time flies. In one moment you drive home with the first, scrapped car from the party, while this new hit “Summer” booms from the creaking boxes. And before you know, the Beatsteaks are celebrating their 30th anniversary. In the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin, the band invited twice to the birthday party.
30 years of Beatsteaks: “We don’t torch long today!”
Friday (June 13) is the start of a huge break for which the setlist has been turned upside down. After a sing-along intro with “God Only Knows” in honor of Brian Wilson, they flee bangers like “Hello Joe” and “hand in hand”, which are otherwise more likely to be heard at the end of the set. In view of the invited special guests, it is also not surprising: suddenly there is this long, black-drawn guy with a guitar, a guy in a blue suit sits on the organ and a black and blonde-colored man is added. You save yourself the idea, because of course all spectators are clear who is just over there to congratulate: The doctors support the beatsteaks in a manowar cover from “Kings of Metal” and remain for a jointly performed “teenage love”:
Many rarely played songs
The fans under the big disco ball also mosen to deep cuts such as “We have to figure it out tonight” from the album “Launched” and the crisp “bar woman” of “48/49”. “Panic” has also been heard less frequently at the shows of the past few years, but nobody forgot the hit here.
For “Frieda and the bombs”, Jan Windmeier from Turbostaat comes by another special guest. Nobody had on the note that Campino and Kuddel from the Toten Hosen appear for a serenade. Together they perform “Opel Gang” and “Disco in Moscow”:
