The dirty war between Casado and Ayuso splits the PP in two

The war between Pablo Casado and Isabel Díaz Ayuso has been unleashed in all its crudeness. Both former friends exhibited their hostilities this Thursday in front of the cameras and with crossed accusations that include detectivesdossiers, commissions illegal and the opening of an informative file to the president. Everything was triggered by the publication in ‘El Mundo’ and ‘El Confidencial’ of an alleged espionage operation by the leadership of Casado’s PP to get dirty laundry out of the head of the Executive of the Community of Madrid. That order would have been made through a company of the City Council of the capital. The conservative leadership denied having used any detective companyalthough he assured that he had asked the president for information about a contract of 1.5 million euros in masks with which his brother, Tomás Díaz Ayuso, has pocketed, according to Génova, a commission of “280,000 euros”.

After reading the information in the media, the first to speak at nine o’clock on Thursday morning was the mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida. He explained that he learned about this alleged espionage in December, which implicated the Municipal Housing Company (EMV), and launched an investigation. The conclusion was that there had been no contract or meeting between EMV employees and a detective to obtain information that could discredit Ayuso. “Who leaves a written contract to inform that they are going to spy on the president? & rdquor;answered sarcastically sources from Puerta del Sol when listening to him.

The leader admits that her brother benefited from the contract that originated the PP investigation

At the Madrid government headquarters they were already preparing the response. Ayuso’s intervention was a succession of phrases that seemed like missiles. And the majority went against Casado or against his number two, the general secretary of the PP, Teodoro García Egea. Almeida, and he wanted to be noticed, saved him from burning, at least in public. “I believe his words & rdquor ;, she affirmed.

Ayuso began by denying “influence peddling & rdquor; so that his brother, who has been “26 years in the health business & rdquor ;, could get a contract from the Community. Madrid’s politics demanded that Casado prove with evidence that she has committed some illegality. He accused the management of spying on him and plotting a “cruel” plan to discredit her for wanting to present herself to the PP congress in Madrid.

Ex-husband and ex-boyfriend information

According to sources from Puerta del Sol, the PP leadership not only commissioned espionage tasks about Ayuso and his brother. They also asked to make inquiries about the ex-husband (Sergio Hernández-Torre), his ex-boyfriend (Jairo Alonso) and the president’s chief of staff, Miguel Angel Rodriguezwhom Génova accuses of having dedicated a good part of his days to weakening Casado and García Egea.

According to the president’s environment, her ex-husband, her ex-boyfriend and her chief of staff were also spied on

In his speech, the leader admitted that her brother benefited from the contract, but that the operation, carried out in April 2020, was completely legal. Sources from Puerta del Sol insisted that, at that time, the “need and urgency of obtaining medical supplies & rdquor; It was “the only objective & rdquor ;. “500 people died a day! & rdquor ;, they highlighted.

The commission that the brother would have received, however, of which there is currently no evidence, reached 18%, according to Casado’s address. “About 280,000 euros for the brother. It is a scandal & rdquor ;, they denounced in Genoa.

The face to face with the leader of the PP

In his speech, Ayuso reported on a key meeting that Casado called “in September & rdquor ;. He explained that his head of ranks told him about the contract and his brother and assured him that those details were part of a “dossier & rdquor; that they had leaked “from Moncloa & rdquor ;, something that the Executive of Pedro Sánchez denied, reports Juanma Romero. Fuentes de Sol insinuated that the conversation was like “blackmail & rdquor;. She had already announced, on August 31, that she wanted to be president of the PP in Madrid and had asked the leadership to convene the internal congress.

According to sources from Genoa, on those dates she began a campaign to pressure Casado with the date because her goal was “to have power and feel supported by the PP & rdquor; to stop the investigation of her brother. For Sol, on the other hand, Casado’s weakness made him see Ayuso as “a threat & rdquor; to her leadership and did not know how to take advantage of his electoral pull. The result is a full-fledged power struggle between the two.

From headquarters to headquarters

The head of the Executive ended the intervention (without questions) asking the president to clarify responsibilities. All eyes were directed at García Egea, who in the regional government considers that he has been the one who has led the campaign to try to discredit Ayuso. However, the day ended with only one resignation, that of the general director of the mayor’s office, Ángel Carromer, involved in the alleged espionage, according to information from ‘El Confidencial’. According to sources from the PP leadership, he denies his involvement but takes that step to be able to “defend himself better & rdquor; of the accusations and “not to compromise the City Council & rdquor ;.

A few minutes after the president’s intervention ended, the PP leadership summoned the press to the central headquarters for a press conference.

García Egea announced that the management had decided open an “informative file & rdquor; to Ayuso and that leaves future legal actions in the hands of his lawyers after the president had recognized payments to his brother and after “the very serious, almost criminal, accusations against Pablo Casado and the party leadership & rdquor;.

The popular number two stressed that the party’s charges are committed to the “exemplariness and transparency” and that, for that reason, when in September of last year the PP received information about an “alleged collection” of commissions “for the benefit” of Ayuso’s environment, Casado summoned her to his office to clarify it. Management sources specify that they did not put this matter in the hands of the prosecution because they had no evidence. On October 20, in another meeting with García Egea, he informed him that the party was launching the “good practice procedure” and was starting “an internal investigation.” Ayuso was summoned to provide more information. “Until the day of today & rdquor ;, closed the general secretary. Until Thursday, February 17, 2022, which will be marked for the history of the PP as one of its most turbulent.
