The American director squandered the 55 million euro subsidy for his own needs.

Film director Carl Erik Rinsch is bubbling around. Rinsch directed his first film in 2014.

However, the streaming service Netflix wanted the future projects directed by Rinsch and they offered the director a gigantic deal. Rinsch agreed to the offer and thus they were to start a big collaboration with each other.
But regret soon hit Netflix.

Netflix granted Rinsch a total of more than 50 million euros in subsidies for his films and series. The streaming service Netflix gave the director almost complete freedom in what kind of series he would make and an endless budget, but not a single episode saw the light of day.
Despite this, the entire budget went.
The New York Times – magazine writes that Rinsch has spent millions of euros on, among other things, five Rolls-Royce cars, furniture, Ferraris, wristwatches worth millions of euros, and designer clothes. In addition to this, he spent the majority of Netflix’s money on stock transactions and cryptocurrencies. In the end, the director’s behavior was revealed to everyone, including his family, and Rinsch’s wife filed for divorce from him.
Rinsch has claimed that Netflix owes him more than 12 million euros in damages. Netflix has denied that they owe the director, calling him a “blackmailer.”
The New York Times could not get the film director to comment on the matter.
To this day, Netflix has not received a single finished episode or film from Mr. Rinsch, despite the funding.
The verdict is expected to be announced soon.
