Film director Ryan Coogler recalled his last conversation with actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away two years ago Wakanda Forever: The Official Black Panther on the podcast.

Black Panther Boseman, known for the movie, died at the age of 43 after suffering from colon cancer for four years.

Coogler recalled asking Boseman if he still wanted to read the script.

– That was the last time we talked. He passed away from it maybe a few weeks later, Coogler said in the podcast.

– I noticed that he was far along when we spoke. He kicked Simone out because he didn’t want her to hear anything that could jeopardize the nondisclosure agreement, Coogler said, referring to Boseman’s spouse Taylor Simone.

Coogler said he guessed something was wrong. Boseman refused to read the script.

– I found out later that he was too tired to read anything.

In the last conversation, Boseman also talked about his wedding plans. In the following weeks, Coogler received a call from his manager informing him of Boseman’s passing.

– I didn’t want to believe it, so I called Denzel (Washington) and we wondered if it was a rumor. I sent Chad a text. I didn’t want to accept it, Coogler recalled.

– Everything in Chad was unique. How he lived and how he died.

Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016. He did not speak about it publicly and continued to work as an actor despite his illness.

Last March, Boseman was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Mon Rainey’s Black Bottom.
