The 4-1 defeat against Japan was even too much for Hansi Flick. Although the national coach then defiantly declared that he was “the right one,” Hansi Flick was fired a short time later. With interim coach Rudi Völler, the national team achieved the desired reaction and a surprising 2-1 win in the prestigious duel with France.
Now new national coach Julian Nagelsmann is on the sidelines for the first time. The international matches against the USA and Mexico will be his first appearances as the new national coach.

DFB squad for the international matches against the USA and Mexico
Julian Nagelsmann nominated a total of 26 players to the DFB squad; Robert Andrich (Bayer Leverkusen), Chris Führich (VfB Stuttgart) and Kevin Behrens (Union Berlin) are in the squad for the first time. BVB star Mats Hummels and Bayern kicker Leon Goretzka are back, among others, who gave former coach Hansi Flick a verbal slap after not being nominated.

Germany and the USA have faced each other a total of 12 times in international matches so far, with a clearly better record for the DFB team, which won eight times but was also defeated four times. The Americans also won the last duel: On June 10, 2015, the US boys won 2-1, with Diskerud and Bobby Wood scoring a goal from Mario Götze.
