(TWO STARS)
In a reduced sceneryafter a messy presentation, with terrible sound, platinum hair and a rejuvenated face, Marcelo Tinelli returned to the coveted “prime time.” That night time slot that keeps local programmers awake at night as it generates greater income from sponsors. He did it with his most productive workhorse, the “bailando”. Just like that, the solidarity “dreams” that knew how to build a community bridge with charitable causes were left along the way. How useful it would have been in these lean times!
It wasn’t the only change. Unlike decades past, the return was on a bass-lit channel like Americaaccustomed to fighting with valiant effort for third or fourth place in the ratings, behind the hot screens of Telefe (the undisputed leader) and The thirteen. In this context, the challenge of captivating elusive viewers is even greater. Let us remember that Tinelli, when it came to arousing the interest of the audience, was for a long time the powerful and unattainable number one on the Argentine small screen and a consistent shaper of social opinion.
So, he did not hesitate to express his concern about the price of the dollar. But in his last shipments, as a host or producer, he dropped positions and, perhaps for that reason, now he did not fire any darts with political intent. But Marcelo and his people breathe a sigh of relief: at least during the first week of broadcasts, he won second place with some ease. Although from Monday’s release to Friday, the measurements showed a constant downward trend.
We will have to see if it holds the digits or not.
As for the dynamics of the program itself, it remains equally routine and, budgetarily and creatively, devalued. In off-screen the announcer can be heard shouting Marcela Feudaleand the comedians “Larry” by Clay, Jorge “Carna” Crivelli and Chino D’Angelo, historic hillsides, like an exalted group of teenage friends who celebrate every occurrence of the presenter. The pantheon is completed with those who judge: the self-proclaimed “number one” Moria Casanthe sibylline chroniclers of spectacles Marcelo Polino and Angel de Britoand the beautiful model Carolina “Pampita” Ardohain.
However, neither before nor now were the skills of professional dancers and choreographers important, nor those generously called “famous”. Yes, on the other hand, what that heterogeneous and diverse group of summoned characters, their family, friends or relatives, and of course the caustic ping pong in disagreement with the jury, can say or do. Not much more.
