Secretary of State Sarah Schlitz (Ecolo) is in the eye of the storm, now that it is clear that she lied about the use of her logo by organizations that received subsidies from her. Schlitz first said in parliament that she knew nothing, but it later became clear that the mention of her personal logo was an explicit request from her cabinet. On Thursday evening, the majority decided to postpone the vote on her resignation for another week.
It now appears that the logo of N-VA leader Zuhal Demir was also on a brochure of a pilot project on care centers for sexual violence, when she was – just like Schlitz today – State Secretary for Equal Opportunities, but then in the Michel government. But according to the Demir cabinet, the two situations cannot be compared. “Her big mistake is that she lied in parliament,” said Demir. “I didn’t do that. If I had received a comment about that then, we would have corrected it immediately. I wouldn’t have lied for that. ” Demir also emphasizes that it was not a project that received subsidies from her cabinet: “It is about a government initiative, in which we were involved.”
