The demand for Apple’s new iPhone 14 phones has been lower than expected, says, among other things Bloomberg.
Apple announced its new iPhones on September 7. Bloomberg says that Apple expects to manufacture at least 3 million iPhone 14 phones this year less than the company expected.
Apple and its subcontractors now aim to produce 87 million phones or even less. Initially, the company’s goal was to produce 90 million phones, anonymous sources tell Bloomberg.
According to Bloomberg, the reason for the lower production volume is especially the reduced demand for the iPhone 14 and its Plus models. The models in question are cheaper alternatives to the iPhone Pro model.
According to an analysis of the smartphone market, sales of the iPhone 14 and the plus model have frozen quickly after their release, and the slowdown is deepening, especially in China.
According to Bloomberg, Apple commented on Sunday that demand for its iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max phones is still strong. However, the company refused to provide exact figures.
The prices of Apple phones have risen wildly over the years. In the United States, the prices of the basic iPhone 14 model (128 GB) start at $799 and the iPhone 14 Pro (128 GB) at $999. In Finland, you can get the basic model for the cheapest price of 1039 euros and the Pro model for 1349 euros.
The most expensive model that went on sale is the iPhone 14 Pro Max with one terabyte of storage space, the price of which in Finland is a whopping 2149 euros. So this year, Apple crossed the 2,000-euro limit, while last year’s corresponding model cost 1,859 euros.
