The deceased husband who was found by a local police officer in his home in Koedijk, turns out to be an 80-year-old man with a Moroccan background. Various sources of meeting center De Rietschoot in Koedijk confirm this to NH News. The man was most likely dead in the house for two months and, according to the police, died of natural causes. The outrage in the neighborhood is great. “That this can happen here in Koedijk,” says a local resident in the meeting center.
A source, who works at the meeting center De Rietschoot, was shocked by the way in which the news of the death was brought out through various social media channels. “I was one of the few people who had contact with him through my work. The man hadn’t opened his door for about two weeks.”
He wants to speak to NH Nieuws today to clarify the speculations that appeared on social media channels and the reactions that followed. “My contact with the man was not intensive, but I spoke to him several times. After that, other contact persons were appointed and the deceased man received the help he needed.”
Movies
The police shared images of a huge number of flies on windows of the deceased man’s house last night through Twitter. The police indicate that the images have been removed because the videos were experienced as shocking by some people.
The employee of De Rietschoot did not think the Tweets were appropriate either. “I found the films with the flies behind the window very unpleasant, which makes it immediately seem like such a horror story. It is strange that you, as a local police officer and police, post such a message,” he says. “I suddenly saw it passing by on social media and I’m glad they were removed.”
The video below shows the images that the police previously shared via Twitter. The images can be experienced as shocking. Text continues after the video.
Door stays closed
When the meeting center received a message that the house had not been opened for a long time, one of the employees decided to take a look for himself, just to be on the safe side. “The man did not open the door, but he already received the right help, but you are still worried.”
After speaking to a neighbour, a police officer also happened to walk by. The officer said: “The man has died. I cannot share any other information with you.” The family would be informed first. “It is very sad to hear that he died there and had been there for a while. You still have questions.”
‘Wanted more help’
The deceased Koedijker went to meeting center De Rietschoot on his own, where he indicated that he needed help. Then he got this. “He came with questions and we made sure he got in touch with the right person,” said the employee.
“The man did not open the door, but he already received the right help, but you are still worried”
The deceased man was elderly and had children, the source confirms. He cannot say what further contact was between the family members. The rumors are also correct that the man was often abroad for a longer period of time. For example, he often went to Morocco.
The reactions under the first article about the deceased man on the NH News Facebook are now pouring in. Many people can’t reach it with their heads. “How awful!!”, “That no one has missed him lately, incomprehensible and so sad!!!!!” and “How is that possible in a place like Koedijk”, are some of the responses.
