The 3-year-old girl who died on Monday at a childcare center in Empel was the daughter of one of the daycare employees. Director Marjolijn van der Spek of childcare farm ‘t Goudvisje said this in a statement. The location will remain closed on Tuesday.
The 3-year-old girl was found on the outside area of the daycare center around one o’clock on Monday. According to the police, she was no longer approachable at that time. Help was no longer of any use. It is still unclear what exactly happened. The police are investigating this.
The management of the childcare center calls it an accident. “It is with great sadness that we have informed our parents that a daughter of one of our employees has died due to a fatal accident at one of our reception locations in Empel,” Van der Spek reports.
“Our organization sympathizes with them enormously.”
“Our thoughts go out first and foremost to the parents, family and surviving relatives who have been affected by this unimaginable loss. Our team and our organization deeply sympathize with them.”
Because the girl’s death has affected other children, employees and parents so much, the shelter will remain closed on Tuesday. “We will do everything we can in the coming period to support parents, children and our employees where necessary.”
In the statement, the director asks ‘everyone to support each other’ and to take the feelings of those involved into account. “Our sincere condolences to the parents, family and relatives.”
