“As the ninth member of the CV90 User Group, the Czech Republic and its army will benefit from this battle-hardened infantry fighting vehicle, which offers an outstanding combination of mobility, firepower, protection and future growth potential,” said Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, Managing Director of BAE Systems Hägglunds in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden. “This contract is also a great win for Czech industry, which will benefit it for decades to come.”
The CV90 will be developed and delivered as part of an industrial partnership with Czech industry to meet the requirements of the Czech Ministry of Defense and the goal of maintaining the national sovereignty of the Czech Republic. The Czech industrial partners will contribute 40% of the procurement value in the form of development, production and assembly contracts (excluding VAT).
The program continues to open up opportunities for the industry in the future that go far beyond the conclusion of the contract with the Czech industrial partners and represent significant financial value. The contract will strengthen the local defense sector as it opens access to BAE Systems’ global supply chain, expands opportunities for collaboration and improves local competitiveness.
The latest generation of the market-leading infantry fighting vehicle, the CV90 MKIV is an ideal, battle-hardened vehicle. The CV90 has been used in coalition operations worldwide under both NATO and UN mandates. The vehicle offers superior tactical and strategic capabilities to engage a wide variety of ground and air targets, as well as exceptional resilience in any terrain and tactical environment.
BAE Systems Hägglunds has produced over 1,400 CV90s in 17 variants for European countries, including five NATO members. Recently, Slovakia has opted for the CV90 for its armed forces, making it the eighth and ninth member country of the CV90 User Group, alongside the Czech Republic.
