A thread on twitter in the profile of the Unión Berlin in Spanish includes all these situations

The Spanish profile of Unión Berlín has published a very interesting thread on Twitter in which, based on the different nomenclatures or acronyms that the clubs have in their names, we can identify their past and origins.
Here we review the most prominent:
1. FC (1. Fussballclub): correspond to the first football club of a certain city (1. FC Köln, 1. FC Union Berlin or 1. FC Heidenheim 1848). The Union was refounded in East Berlin in 1966, hence its current name.
VFL (Verein für Leibesübungen): stands for “Fitness Clubs”, such as VfL Wolfsburg or VfL Bochum.
VFB (Verein für Bewegungsspiele): means “Club for Movement Games”. Its greatest exponent is VfB Stuttgart.
TSG (Turn- und Sportgemeinschaft): “Community for Gymnastics and Sport”, such as TSG Hoffenheim.
SC (Sport Club): “Sports club”, such as Freiburg SC or Berliner SC Hertha.
SV (Sportverein): “Sports club” but using the German word ‘verein’, like SV Werder Bremen or SV Darmstadt 98.
EV (Eingetragener Verein): correspond to the initials “Registered Association”. They are the clubs that belong to their members 100%. Currently there are only 3 in the Bundesliga – Union Berlin, Freiburg and Mainz.
BV (Ballspielverein): “Ball Game Club”, like BV Borussia Dortmund, colloquially known as BVB.
RB (Rasenballsport): to match the initials of its owner (Red Bull), in Leipzig they invented this curious name: “Ball Sport on Grass”.
GMBH (Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung): “Company with limited liability”, are clubs where at least a part of it belongs to a company.
