The mayor of the CUP by BarcelonaBasha Changue, has demanded that the Barcelona City Council immediately appear in court cases opened “against the fascist group Desokupa” by hate crimeswhen exhibiting nazi symbology and of the extreme right in their public acts, including the protest that took place this Thursday against the squatted farms in Bonanova.
In a press conference at the beginning of the electoral campaign, the head of the CUP list in Barcelona expressed this Friday his support “for the comrades who took to the streets yesterday to defend the residents” who reside in the two controversial buildings of the the Bonanova neighborhood that are squatted, known as ‘El Kubo’ and ‘La Ruïna’, owned by Sareb.
Basha Changue regretted that both the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Urban Police allowed Desokupa to exhibit yesterday “symbology” of extreme right and they will carry outNazi greetings” with “total impunity” in his manifestation of the Bonanova.
She has been especially critical of the PSC candidate Jaume Collboniconsidering that “with his statements speaking of legal frameworks, he has joined the process of right-wing of his party“, something that he considers very “worrying”, because “self-proclaimed progressive forces turn to the right”.
The mayor of the CUP has stressed that “the forces that are in the consistory are not willing to face the fascist groups” and that their “inability” makes the presence of his training again in the consistory more necessary than ever.
Changue has indicated that the CUP will propose to develop in Barcelona City Council “the anti-fascist protocol launched in other institutions”, and has demanded from the current municipal government of the commons and PSC that the city council “undertake immediate legal action against Desokupa”.
According to the head of the list, “you have to stop hate speech and not stand in profile in the face of impunity for Nazi and fascist proclamations”, which is what the PSC and the formation led by Mayor Ada Colau believe to be doing.
Has considered “worrying“let there be youths that they participate in the acts of the Desokupa extrajudicial eviction company, something that, according to Basha Changue, “cannot go unnoticed and emphasis must be placed on social education in democratic and anti-fascist values.”
“Harassment” of squatters
candidate number two Jordi Estivillhas warned that “the comrades who reside” in the two squatted buildings in Bonanova suffer “harassment” for weeks “by the extreme right”.
“That there are groups doing Nazi salutes, it is not only very serious but that it should not be repeated, so we ask the City Council not to repeat it”, Estivill stated.
In his opinion, Desokupa has “a media speaker” that tries to legitimize it, when “it has numerous criminal proceedings open and maintains clear and proven links with Nazi parties”.
“Desokupa is not welcome in our city, but it is necessary that this anti-fascist speech also enters the speeches of the parties that are in the current municipal plenary session,” he pointed out.
