The Noordenveld municipal council has drawn a definitive line through seven new homes in Alteveer in North Drenthe. The plans are ‘not appropriate’, although the municipality is willing to participate in housing construction in the future.
Seven new homes – on the grounds of the Prins Willem Alexanderhoeve – may not seem like much, but it is too much for a village like Alteveer (less than a hundred inhabitants). At least that is the opinion of the council, which withdrew a previously issued ‘declaration of no reservations’. Responsible councilor Jos Darwinkel (Municipal Interests) recently concluded that the project developer is not in line with the neighborhood.
Mr Evenhuis spoke from the neighborhood this evening. He was not necessarily in favor or against the plan, but did say that it is time for a development of the PWA site. “The current situation does not provide any peace of mind,” he says. By this he refers to the emergency crisis shelter that has been set up there and the school that is located there. “I estimate that a hundred people come to the site every day. That means a lot of traffic flows. People drive a lot and fast.”
Evenhuis would then have preferred to see room made for housing. “Then we at least know what to expect and have peace of mind.”
The Noordenveld municipal council unanimously agreed to withdraw the declaration of no reservations, which meant that the housing development plan for seven houses was taken off the table. And so – in order to realize housing construction – a new plan must be developed by the owner of the land.
