The conspiracy of fools, by Rafael Vilasanjuan

The royal caravan from the East does not reach the US and the illusion with which we receive it here, there is becoming a stone in the shoe every January 6th. since two years ago, neoconservative ultras stormed the Capitol it seems as if the anniversary was marked on the agenda of the American putschists. Just two years later, 15 rounds of voting have been needed to elect the president of Congress. Although the Republicans won the elections, the margin of advantage is so narrow that with just a wayward minority the lower house of the world’s leading power can be blocked. That is what has happened, that a handful of conservative ultras, some of them inspiring the assault two years ago, have resisted voting in favor of their party’s candidate until they show that they have power. The result of this dramatic round of voting clearly reflects that the toxicity of Donald Trump’s tenure far has moved from the Republican party to Congress and the worst thing is that no one controls this new conspiracy.

The democracy that we assumed to be the most stable on the planet is going through its worst hours. Until now the radicals had hijacked the republican party. After years of dalliances towards neoconservative movements, such as the ‘Tea party’, the Republicans took refuge in the “America first” of Trump. But his main contribution to American political life has been little more than a slogan, its objective is to break the stability, while the society divides and confronts. Liberal candidates are parked, or threatened under the ultra kidnapping of the conservatives that they deny the legitimacy of the elected president, that they play with lies and denialism and that now they are going to demonstrate in Congress that what they could not obtain by assaulting him like wild animals, they are going to do from the stands, blocking any agreement. With the party kidnapped and the congress threatened, what comes next is savage politics subjected to the conspiracy of fools.
