The commander of the National Guard resigned after the execution in the Dnieper

Because of execution by a conscript soldier of five colleagues In Dnipro, Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Mykola Balan resigned.

At the briefing, he explained that “any action is the responsibility of the commander or commander.” With this in mind, Balan explained, on the morning of January 27, he wrote a report to the Minister of Internal Affairs and a petition to the President of Ukraine for the resignation and dismissal from the post of commander of the National Guard, reports TASS.

Serviceman of the National Guard of Ukraine Artemy Ryabchuk is now being interrogated by investigators, the motives of his act are being clarified, reports RIA News with reference to Tatyana Sapyan, Communications Adviser of the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine.

Previously it was reported that the reason for the execution of colleagues could become a hazing relationship.

The incident occurred on the territory of the plant “Yuzhmash” in the Dnieper. A soldier of the National Guard of Ukraine shot a guard of colleagues from a Kalashnikov assault rifle. Five people were killed and five more were injured.

The soldier then fled with a weapon, but was soon apprehended. A criminal case was initiated under articles on premeditated murder and desertion with a weapon. The National Guardsman faces up to 15 years or life imprisonment.
