According to several American newspapers, the series published in June will only last for one season and no continuation is expected in the future. HBO released a statement about the decision to end the series.
– The Idol was one of HBO’s most provocative original series, and we have been delighted by the viewers’ strong reaction, the streaming service says.
The five-episode series tells about a promising young artist who falls in love with a cult leader. The series has raised eyebrows with its sex scenes. Viewers criticized especially the scene where The Weeknd artist lived Abel Testafayen33, the protagonist fulfills his sexual fantasy young Lily-Rose Depp24, with the character.
Because of that scene, the viewers felt that they were watching more porn than a drama series. The experience has been taken into account by the streaming service, which decided that the series will no longer continue through the service.
– After a long discussion and consideration, HBO and the producers have decided that they will not continue the series for a second season, according to HBO.

After the decision came out, many people rushed to social media to comment on the series’ short sky. Many are satisfied with the streaming service’s decision, as the series has also received criticism for its plot and quality.
