The color trends for spring/summer 2025

Future Dusk, Transcendent Pink, Aquatic Awe, Sunset Coral and Ray Flower – these are the colors of the Spring/Summer 2025 season.

First, the trend research institute WGSN together with the color experts Coloro chose ‘Future Dusk’ as the color of the year, now they announced the full color spectrum for spring/summer 2025 in a webinar on Wednesday. In the midst of global change and rising uncertainty, the duo’s key colors bring a sense of reassurance and exert a powerful pull, Coloro says. In addition, the colors reflect “a significant shift towards strategic imagination”. It is these innovative ideas that will be crucial in solving the current global challenges.

Future Dusk

The color of the year 2025, Future Dusk [129-35-18], at first glance seems unusually somber for a spring/summer season, but according to Urangoo Samba, Head of Color at WGSN, captivating, dark hues will become more important in 2025 – also in spring. The atmospheric and fascinating color takes up the current time of transition – be it the transition from darkness to light or from dusk to dawn – and is therefore particularly suitable for the current changes. “This dependable blue will go a long way in boosting feelings of trust and stability, but as a violet it also has a fantastic quality that will dynamically propel the creation of new futures,” says Samba.

The color is also in tune with the current fascination with the second space age, giving it a “celestial vibe,” Coloro said in a statement. The hue is both reliable and futuristic, depending on your point of view.

Transcendent Pink

At Transcendent Pink [086-70-25] the name doesn’t necessarily say it, because this is not, as one might assume, a shade of pink, but rather a kind of old rose. Coloro describes Transcendent Pink as an almost imperceptible shade with an earthy and balancing effect, carried by a sense of stability. Also, despite being categorized as a Spring/Summer 2025 color, the shade is cross-seasonal. It is suitable for all genders and demographics, which is why Guilbert describes it as “commercially reliable”.

The virtual project ‘Metaserai’ by the architects Grimshaw, Farshid Moussavi, HWKN and Why, who worked with the NFT and Metaverse company Pax.World, proves that color is not only based in reality, but is also already present in the Metaverse have. Together, the companies created a virtual world based on the Silk Road, a historic trade route.

Aquatic Awe

The transformative turquoise owes its name Aquatic Awe [086-70-25] the book “Awe: The Transformative Power of Everyday Wonder” by author Dacher Keltner. Like the eponymous work, the color encourages “cultivating miracles,” according to Samba. The color expert ranks the hue, which celebrates the weird and wondrous aspects of nature but also ideally connects to the digital world, as one of her personal favorites for 2025.

The duality of the hue, which appears both natural and virtual, bridges the gap between fantasy and reality, Samba continues. Aquatic Awe simultaneously evokes marine life and its ecosystems as well as the increasingly popular immersive virtual worlds.

Sunset Coral

“Sunset Coral is a color that appeals to our desire for the simple pleasures in life,” says Carolin Guilbert, Creative Content Lead at Coloro, of the coral color. Sunset Coral [009-58-31] is an antidote to the current obsession with productivity and, despite its energetic appearance, invites you to enjoy doing nothing.

The color experts also speak of “conscious hedonism” in connection with Sunset Coral, because the shade, which is also reminiscent of a sunset, is intended to help connect moments of pleasure with meaning and purpose.

Ray Flower

The fifth color for the Spring/Summer 2025 season, Ray Flower [037-832-32], brings not only sunshine, but also a lot of optimism. Coloro cites the work of multidisciplinary designer Jess Redgrave as the source of inspiration for the radiant shade of yellow. The Brit is best known for her Clima Fiber project, for which she developed fibers for textiles, natural dyes and a hydropic coating made entirely from sunflowers.

“This color is inherently upbeat and soothing,” says Samba. “Ray Flower fits with the growing trend toward a more radical, considerate approach to sustainability, where the environment is considered as a client in design and production, and nature as a member will be dealt with by management.”
