The city of Ypres does not want windmills in the Noordderring neighborhood between Ypres and Vlamertinge
At the college of aldermen, it approved a vision memorandum that only allows clustering of turbines in the vicinity of the industrial zone. Ypres will therefore advise against an application from Luminus for 4 turbines.
Last week, a neighborhood committee also handed over more than 1,200 objections. The city then said it would certainly take that into account. Ypres has already indicated that, as a tourist city, it is committed to open landscape and that energy suppliers are not allowed to install windmills haphazardly. There are already nine windmills in the industrial zone and Ypres wants to renew them in the future so that they produce more energy.
