The city of Vantaa starts paying Käärijä’s rent

Käärijä, who hails from Vantaa, gets respect from his own hometown.

Known by the stage name Käärijä Jere Pöyhönen, 29, doesn’t have to worry about his rent bills for a year. The City of Vantaa tells in its announcementthat he plans to offer Finland’s Eurovision representative a rented apartment in Vantaa for one year.

According to the release, Käärijä, who lived in Helsinki, has spoken about his desire to return to Vantaa to live, which the artist’s hometown wanted to take into account.

– Home in Vantaa always feels so much more like home, says Käärijä, according to the city of Vantaa’s press release.

The information was announced on Tuesday, June 13, at a coffee party organized by the city, where Pöyhönen went to receive the Vantaa medal in recognition of his significant contributions to the city. The medals were handed out by the chairman of the Vantaa City Council Sari Multala and chairman of the city council Antti Lindtman. The medal was minted in honor of Vantaa becoming a city in 1974, and was designed by sculptor Heikki Häiväoja

There were 12 fans of the artist from the Tikkurila kindergarten, and of course, Käärijä tarts were also available.

The city of Vantaa plans to show its respect to Käärijä in the future as well. In May, the city of Vantaa announced its intention to, among other things, paint a Käärijä mural in East Vantaa.
