The City of Ostend calls on employees and mandataries to remove TikTok from work phones

The popular app TikTok has recently been labeled as unsafe by many authorities, such as the federal and Flemish government. After all, it is unclear whether the Chinese app handles users’ personal data correctly. Flemish Minister of the Interior Bart Somers therefore advises local authorities to ban TikTok on the work phones of employees.

The City of Ostend responds to that question and urges employees and mandataries to quickly remove the TikTok app from their work phone, tablet or computer. Together with the other central cities, the City is looking to have a ban on TikTok included in the internal work regulations.

Mayor Bart Tommelein immediately responded to this call and removed the TikTok app from his device.
