The circular future of fashion – Coachtopia publishes documentary series

Coachtopia goes behind the scenes of the global fashion industry with a new documentary series.

Introduced in 2023 Sub-brand The luxury brand Coach focuses on Generation Z and follows a circular concept. With the new documentary series entitled ‘The Road to Circularity’, the young brand wants to “embark on a journey into the circular future of fashion,” according to a statement on Wednesday.

With the series, the label wants to draw attention to the problems of the fashion industry and create awareness of circular economy. The documentaries tell the stories of the partners and people Coachtopia works with around the world. It challenges the prevailing principles of how fashion is produced and consumed today – the focus is on developing ideas that enable circularity on a large scale.

The first episode, entitled ‘Making with Waste’, accompanies climate activist and storyteller Aditi Mayer to India. There she visits a family-run leather goods manufacturer in Chennai. The family business converts leftover Coach leather into a new raw material, which is then used to produce Coachtopia products. The first part of the series challenges common notions of perfection in fashion – a necessity on the path to the circular economy: “I realize that the circular economy is not just about the way we produce, but also the way we produce “To change the way we think,” says Mayer.

“Since Coachtopia was founded, we have worked closely with a variety of inspiring young leaders as part of our beta community. “We’ve learned how frustrating the lack of transparency in the fashion industry can be for this generation,” says Joon Silverstein, head of Coachtopia. “That’s why we created this docuseries ‘The Road to Circularity’ – to go where “We don’t usually go to fashion to explore the challenges facing our industry and to show what it means to rethink the usual narratives and fashion systems with a circular economy in mind.”
