The largest space debris to have re-entered the atmosphere
The remains of Chinese Long March 5B rocket that this Friday has re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere without control are one of the space debris largest recorded to date. This has been assured by European Aviation Safety Agency (AESA), which has specified that at that time it weighed between 17 and 23 tons and had a size of 30 meters. Given the sheer volume, the agency has warned that uncontrolled dropping of space debris “deserves careful monitoring.” It should be remembered that there is no law or treaty that governs how spacecraft have to re-enter the atmosphere.
