Mikkel Kaufmann (22/Karlsruhe) is the only newcomer to 1. FC Union this training week. The second newcomer so far, Alex Kral (25/last Schalke), is still on extended vacation after his international appearances with the Czech Republic.

On Monday, Dane Kaufmann had to get up early on his first day at work. From 8.30 a.m. the striker completed his medical checks at the sports medicine department of the Charité in Berlin-Mitte. Kaufmann is hot for the football upper house: “I have a good feeling, I’m really looking forward to the Bundesliga. The Champions League is a big bonus.”

Kaufmann was loaned to second division club Karlsruhe last season and scored ten times there. Previously, he tried his luck at Hamburger SV in vain and was not very convincing in the 2nd division in 2021/22. In 32 competitive games, it was only enough for two goals.

He ultimately used the past season in Karlsruhe as a stepping stone. Union is said to be 2.7 million. Euro transfer fee (to FC Copenhagen). So the iron hope a lot from the Dane, who was once considered a great offensive talent in his home country.

In Köpenick, one of the things on the agenda for him in the next few days and weeks is to look for an apartment. Kaufmann reveals: “I have to find an apartment now, my friend Clara will come in a month or two.”
